Jackass Forever [Blu-ray]

After an eleven year gap since Jackass 3, Jackass Forever is finally here - and with it, the return of many of the faces we know and love, but with some new people willing to brave the dangerous and often crude stunts laid out before them. After Ryan Dunn’s death in 2011, shortly after the release of the third movie, the cast, crew and fans were understandably heartbroken. We often wondered if that would be it for Jackass, as naturally it would be a tough reminder for the guys to continue on without their friend, but fittingly - this one is dedicated to his memory.

Growing up, both myself and Allan were huge fans of Jackass. I go through pretty intense phases with things, and took a deep-dive into the Jackass rabbit hole, acquiring the complete series and all of the movies, as well as other content from the stars such as cKy, Viva La Bam and Wildboyz. I even picked up Bam’s Unholy Union and Haggard, so the recent issues surrounding Bam Margera, such as his drug and alcohol abuse, were sad to see. Particularly as it then resulted in him being asked to leave the production until he could get himself sorted out; thus evolving into legal drama, and director Jeff Tremaine having to get a restraining order against Bam after receiving death threats - and whilst the filming had to go on without him, thankfully he seems to be on the road to recovery now.

After a long-winded production (being delayed in part by COVID), Jackass Forever has finally seen the light of day. With a bunch of new cast members: Eric Manaka, Jasper Dolphin (with cameos from his dad, Dark Shark), Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Rachel Wolfson, and Zach Holmes - all of whom were fantastic additions to the cast; we also got to see a few cameos from the likes of Machine Gun Kelly and Eric Andre, with the latter being highly shocked by some of the stunts and pranks - and if you’ve ever watched The Eric Andre Show, you’ll know that’s saying something!

This Blu-ray release is fantastic, with the full movie - which is just downright hilarious - offering up insane stunts ranging from Johnny Knoxville’s brush with death going up against a bull, to the team performing a marching band stunt on a treadmill; as well as a variety of never-before-seen footage, giving plenty of reasons to pick it up. Some of the added scenes (which can be seen fully on the Blu-ray) have snippets being shown in Jackass 4.5, which is currently available on Netflix. Other footage can be seen via 4.5, giving a bit more behind-the-scenes content, as well as different unseen footage. So in order to get the full package, you’d definitely be best to pick up the Blu-ray before watching 4.5.

In the end, we decided to give Jackass Forever the Collecting Asylum rating of 9/10.
